"Gold filled" comprises a solid layer of gold (18k) permanently bonded to a base metal, such as brass used in this chain. The minimum layer of gold much equal at least 1/20th of the weight of the total item. Unlike gold plated, it is very hard-wearing and under normal wear and the gold will not peel or flake.
Care:
Gold filled jewelry can last a very long time, but it is heavily dependent on several lifestyle and environmental factors. Avoid pools/hot tubs/chlorine, hair products, lotions, sunscreens, etc. It's also best to try to remember to remove your jewelry before working out. To keep your piece in the best shape, simply wipe piece down with a soft cloth after each use. A polishing cloth is included with your purchase to help with care and cleaning your new chain.
